There are sets of activities for Morning, Evening, Pre and Post Activity and Target activities. These are exercises we have learned in school, at various gym/exercise programs over the year yet geared for the over 60 group who aren't as agile, have balance concerns, haven't exercised in awhile or want to try something different. The stretches have pictures with detailed instructions, but Baz Thompson also lays an excellent foundation for the whys and whats beforehand. For instance, he describes types of stretches and when to use (or not use) them. So out go the “ballistic” stretches we were taught in gym class. Remember the bouncing toe touch stretch anyone? He also targets stretches for particular times of day. New to me is the idea of stretching before bed. The outlined stretches are easily incorporated into a daily routine and I’ve been enjoying the process of adding this new layer of lifestyle wellness.
